When asked about his potential return to Europe, the Brazilian dropped a huge hint that he could make a move in January, saying: "I do not know, I hope soon."

This has, reported, put many clubs on high alert, two of which are Premier League Giants Manchester United and Liverpool.

The potential asking price for the Brazilian international is £17.5 million if they are willing to sell the former AC Milan striker.

So if he is to join the Premier League, fans will want to know about how he has played for and the origin of his strange nickname so here is everything you need to know about Alexandre Pato.

Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva was born 2nd September 1989 in Pato Branco, Brazil

His nickname “Pato” which literally translated to the English for “Duck” comes from his place of birth.

At the age of 11 Pato joined Sport Club Internacional, or Internacional for short, where he climbed up the youth ranks for six years

In 2006 Pato joined the Internacional sub-20 (under 20) team despite playing with and against players that where four years older than him

Pato became top scorer of the under 20 competition.

At the age of 17 Pato made his first team debut for Internacional against Palmeiras where he scored within the first minute of the game

That season he played 10 matched, scoring six goal before he was scouted by European Giants AC Milan.

Pato yet again scored on him debut when he scored against Napoli in a 52 home victory on 13 January 2008

And finished his first season in Italy with nine goals in 20 matches.

Also in 2008 Pato made his national team debut for Brazil, which he had previously played for at under 20 and under 23 level

In 27 games for Brazil he scored 10 goals.

After four years in Italy his career began to decline as he became plagued with injuries

A string of niggling injuries saw his appear sporadically when in 2011/12 and 2012/13, yet when he did play he played very well.

Before the 2012/13 season Pato took over the No

9 shirt which was left vacant after Filippo Inzaghi retired, however in MilanÂ’s third training session of the season he was injured for up to 2 months.

The following January Pato joined Brazilian side Corinthians for €15 million (£12.18m) and, yet again, this scored on his debut, in fact he scored with his first touch after Paulinho, a former Spurs player, passed it to him.

However after that his form was called into question especially after he missed two open goals against Goiás whih prompted his manager to say “This pressure comes from his high transfer fee

But football is not only about money

If it was just about money, we would not have won Libertadores last year".

His performances began to deteriorate and was constantly targeted and borated by the Corinthians supporters club.

On 24 October, Alexandre Pato missed the final penalty in a penalty shoot-out against Grêmio that saw his Corinthians team knocked out of the Copa do Brazil.

In a strange turn of events Pato joined Sao Paulo on loan as part of the deal of Jadson moving the other way permanently as Corinthians new coach didnÂ’t want Pato at the club

This season Pato has made 32 appearances and has scored 15 goals.

Pato is a quick, agile, and creative forward, with excellent technical ability, and an eye for goal, Pato was considered to be one of the world's most promising young footballing stars in his youth.

His former managers Carlos Dunga and Carlo Ancelotti even likened his ability to that of other legendary Brazilian attacking players, such as Careca, Kakà, Romário, and Ronaldo.

According to Albanian and Turkish media, Pato was in a relationship with the Albanian actress and model, Almeda Abazi.

His loan now expires in January and is apparently up for sale, with Corinthians willing to listen to offers.
