From the Mirror:

David Beckham was seething last night after Real Madrid banned him from cheering on England at Old Trafford tonight.

Beckham was desperate to show his support for his country in the final qualifying match against Poland.

But Real bosses insisted he flew back to the Spanish capital last night to attend a meaningless training session this morning.

"David is not happy," a source close to the England team said. "He is disappointed about what has happened.

"He was extremely keen to stay and cheer the boys on and be part of the group for the last qualifying game.

"He's very happy at Madrid and that won't change but he would have liked to have been here for the Poland game."

Madrid bosses decided they wanted Becks back in Spain when it became clear he would be suspended for tonight's clash. They play city rivals Atletico on Saturday and are keen to keep their recovery from a bad start to this season on track. Right-back Michel Salgado had been recalled too after he was ruled out of Spain's clash with San Marino tonight.
