Ashley Young Inching 'Closer & Closer' to Inter Move - Personal Terms Agreed on Deal Until 2021

Ashley Young's departure from Manchester United is 'getting closer and closer' as the wing-back prepares to join Inter on an 18-month deal.

The 34-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in 2011, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, his time in Manchester appears to be up - despite the Red Devils' willingness to keep him on for another year.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks are ongoing between Inter and Man Utd, but Young has 'agreed personal terms' with the Italian side, who are hoping to finalise the deal 'immediately'.

Young has made 12 appearances for the Red Devils this season, but he has been used sparingly in recent weeks. Solskjaer left Young on the bench for Man Utd's recent 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, and his final appearance for the Premier League giants may have come in their victory over Burnley in December.

Man Utd lack experience throughout the squad, and Young was appointed as the club captain in 2019, playing in 30 league matches over the course of last season. The Red Devils offered the defender a one-year extension following Inter's interest, but he turned down the deal, and instead looks set to sign a contract until June 2021 at San Siro.

Inter have done plenty of business with Man Utd in recent months, as I Nerazzurri signed wantaway striker Romelu Lukaku and outcast Alexis Sanchez in the summer. Lukaku has been a revelation for the Italian side, bagging 14 goals in 18 league games, while Sanchez scored on his debut before suffering a serious injury.

Conte is keen to bolster his squad ahead of Inter's title race with Juventus, and with the two sides neck-and-neck at the top of the table, Young's experience and versatility could prove crucial for Inter.
