Ashley Young Sends Heartfelt Message to Man Utd Fans Following Inter Move

Former Manchester United captain Ashley Young has posted a heartfelt farewell message to the club's fans on social media.

The 34-year-old joined United in 2011 after impressing for Aston Villa, for a fee of around £17m. Young went on to make over 250 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, enjoying a number of highlights along the way.

During his time at the club he won five trophies, including the 2012/2013 Premier League and the FA Cup in 2016. His best individual performance probably came in United's 8-2 drubbing of Arsenal in August 2011, when Young scored two fantastic goals.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, the player sent out a warm message of thanks to the club's fans for their support during his eight-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.

"To @ManUtd: you gave me the chance to play with legends, to win trophies, to work under the greatest manager in history and to be your captain. Thank you for letting me be part of your story for eight and a half years," Young's tribute began.

"To the United fans: every time I walked on the pitch wearing your shirt I gave you my all. Thank you for your support during the highs and the lows. I leave as one of you, see you again in an away end soon."

Young began his career as a winger before moving to full-back more recently - even being selected at wing-back for England at the 2018 World Cup.

He has agreed a move to Inter on a six month contract with an option for a further year, for a reported fee of just €1.5m (£1.3m), with the Nerazzurri announcing his arrival on Friday.

Young is likely to be joined by at least two more Premier League players at the San Siro this month, with both Christian Eriksen and Olivier Giroud understood to be close to finalising deals to join Antonio Conte's side.
