Phil Bardsley on his break through into the first team squad.

“Playing in the first team has been fantastic experience and I've learnt so much," he told Pravda TV.

"You dream of being able to play in the Champions League, the Premiership and domestic Cup competitions.

"This season has been like a rollercoaster for me, but I'm enjoying every minute and as long as that continues I’ll be very happy."

Life could not be much sweeter for the Salford-born defender who is vowing to stake a claim for a regular first team place.

"People say once you’ve had a taste of it, you just want more, and I'm no different," he insisted. "Hopefully I can maintain my progress and take that into the next game.

"As long as I’ve got a red shirt on whether I’m playing for the first team, or the reserves I’ll give 110 per cent every time I play."
