BITS AND BOBS

* Arsenal are expected to sign Tomas Rosicky from Dortmund. The fee ranges from only £6m to £8m depending which paper you pick up.

* Phil Neville has been called up as back-up for England after Nidel Reo-Coker withdrew due to injury.

* Matt Dickinson of The Times reports that Terry Venables may be drafted into the England set up after the World Cup.

* Giggs talking here about his role with Wales:

"I'm enjoying playing in this central-midfield role, with things happening all around me. It has worked well at Manchester United and now it is started to improve things for Wales.

"It gives me the chance to get onto the ball. When you have players like Craig Bellamy and Robert Earnshaw making runs with their pace, all you have to do is to slide the passes through from central midfield to create the chances.

"We need to feed those two, we need to find the space to let them run at defenders. Craig did it really well, he gave them a nightmare of a game and they must have been glad to see the back of him.

"All I am trying to do is to slip the passes into him for him to use his pace to get beyond defenders."

* Some bland comments about next year from Mourinho:

"It won't just be Arsenal.

"I think Man United had a very good Premiership, they won a lot of matches and had a very good season.

"Liverpool finished very well with a lot of consecutive victories and they are very strong opponents.

"Last season I was trying to imagine a competition ending on the last day of the season. But it was not like that.

"You never know what can happen but I think we will have to be very good if we want to keep the title."

* Diarra's agent, Frederic Guerra:

"I have never spoken to the journalists at AS, not anyone else. I don't know how I am supposed to have met the Real management seeing as there isn't one at the moment. And to conclude a transfer, the two clubs negotiate the fee amongst themselves without any input from the player's agent. I have not had any approaches concerning Mahamadou Diarra from either Real or Manchester"

* Snippet from Sky:

Inter Milan are one of the teams in the frame for van Nistelrooy and reports in Italy suggest the Nerazzurri have offered Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso as makeweight in a deal.
