Bruno Fernandes Transfer Details, Agent Fees & Sell-On Clause Revealed

Bruno Fernandes' former club Sporting CP have confirmed details of the Portugal international's January transfer to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old ended a two and a half year spell in Lisbon to join Manchester United in a deal which could rise to €80m, and further details have now been released by Sporting CP over how the finer details of the transfer have been broken down.

In documents released to the CMVM (cited by A Bola), Manchester United have paid an initial €55m (£46m) upfront with another €25m (£21m) tied up in add-ons.

On top of Fernandes' transfer fee, Sporting CP have retained a 10% sell-on clause, while €5.5m in fees have been split between super-agent Jorge Mendes and the midfielder's brother in law, Miguel Pinho.

The Portuguese side also were forced to pay some money to Fernandes' former club Sampdoria, leaving Sporting with just €34.13m before add-ons.

Speaking about the transfer, Sporting's vice-president Francisco Salgado Zenha explained that the club were able to get the better of Manchester United during negotiations in January and explained they ended up with €20m more compared to if the transfer had gone through during the summer.

"I realised in the negotiations that Manchester United was convinced that we were going to give in and that for 50 million euros he was doing the deal. Well, they ended up paying 65 million," Zenha said, quoted by Record.

"They were wrong and ended up paying what we wanted. We went to get 20 million more than if we had sold four months ago."

Fernandes has made just three appearances for Manchester United since joining the club last month, but the 25-year-old has already made quite an impact at Old Trafford.

As well as impressing with his overall performances, Fernandes picked up his first assist for the club in United's 2-0 win over Chelsea last week, setting Harry Maguire's second-half header at Stamford Bridge.
