Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be unhappy with life at Manchester United and is reportedly planning crunch talks with agent Jorge Mendes ahead of a possible summer exit.
Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford before the start of the current campaign but has failed to live up to his sky-high expectations. He has managed eight goals in 19 Premier League appearances and has failed to turn United into title contenders.
The 37-year-old has not always been a starter either, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick occasionally benching Ronaldo in favour of Edinson Cavani.
According to the Daily Star, an uncomfortable relationship with Rangnick has contributed to Ronaldo's unhappiness in Manchester and the forward is now believed to be open to quitting United after just one season.
Ronaldo is said to be planning 'showdown talks' with Mendes when he returns to Portugal in the March international break to discuss all his options, with United's next permanent boss expected to play a big part in his decision.
Earlier reports have revealed that Ronaldo wants to be 100% certain that the new manager, who will be appointed ahead of the 2022/23 season, will be a success, and he is prepared to walk away if he is not happy.
The belief is that Ronaldo has already made it clear to United that he does not want Rangnick to be given the job beyond the current season, while his lack of experience under other candidates like Mauricio Pochettino or Erik ten Hag could prove problematic.
Ronaldo remains under contract until 2023, while United also have the option to extend that by a further 12 months, but there is no guarantee that the Portugal striker will actually see out his deal at Old Trafford.
