Cristiano Ronaldo left out of Man Utd squad for Atletico Madrid friendly

Cristiano Ronaldo has not been named in Manchester United's 21-man squad for their pre-season friendly with Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The Red Devils have a double header of friendlies this weekend, firstly taking on Atletico in Norway before hosting Rayo Vallecano back at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Ronaldo has missed all of Man Utd's pre-season so far after being granted time away for personal issues. He watched on from the sidelines in a behind-closed-doors match with Wrexham earlier this week as he continues to try and force a move from the club, and he will not play any part against Atletico on Saturday.

The Portuguese superstar has ironically been linked with a move to the Spanish side in the last week, though club president Enrique Cerezo has distanced them from such a transfer.

While Ronaldo is not travelling to Oslo, new signings Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez all are.

Scott McTominay and James Garner have shaken off recent injuries and are heading with the travelling party, though some players have been left out and are expected to feature more prominently against Rayo Vallecano instead.

Man Utd squad vs Atletico Madrid: David De Gea, Tom Heaton, Matej Kovar; Diogo Dalot, Ethan Laird, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Alex Telles; Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, James Garner, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri, Donny van de Beek; Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho
