Cristiano Ronaldo to decide Man Utd future after new manager hunt

Cristiano Ronaldo will put off a decision on his Manchester United future until he sees who the club bring in as their new manager in the summer.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is in charge until the end of the season but is also part of the search for his long-term successor, who is expected to arrive in time for the 2022/23 campaign.

By that point, Ronaldo will have 12 months left on his United contract, with the club also holding an option to extend that by a further year, but ESPN state that Ronaldo is not yet certain that he will stay at Old Trafford beyond the current season.

There is said to be 'no guarantee' that Ronaldo remains with the Red Devils. He turns 37 this weekend and, while still an elite player, is running out of time to add more silverware to his enormous trophy cabinet.

If Ronaldo is not impressed with the new manager, it is suggested that he could look for a move elsewhere, although his options are likely to be limited. A move to the Middle East or MLS could be on the cards, as could a return to Portugal.

Ronaldo's future could even be taken out of his hands if the new manager comes in and decides to move in a different direction to the soon-to-be 37-year-old.

United are in need of a new long-term striker, as both Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani will be the wrong side of 35 by the end of this season.

Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland is on the club's radar and this could be United's best chance to land the Norway international, with his £64m release clause kicking in this summer.
