United reaction:

SAF: "We've got to help fulfil Ronaldo's potential. He's got the physique and he's got an exceptional personality which I think will help him more than anything. He's got the attitude to go with the skill. The character within him can take him far.

"I know at the beginning of the season Christiano was accused of diving but at Charlton he was taken out at thigh level. When he first came in he found the culture different from Portugal and it took time to adjust. To my mind, he was man of the match today."

"You have to respect your opponents at all times and never take them for granted. It took most of the first half to open them up. We have professional players and expect a professional performance. I'm proud of everyone attached to the club.

"You always set out at the start of the season at this club to try and win a trophy and we've done that. I'm very pleased for the players and for the fans."

RVN: "He (Ronaldo) has a terrific physique and balance. Two good feet, great technique and is also a fantastic personality and strength of mind.

"I have missed the last one or two penalties and I took this one with full power.

"It was not a stroll in the park. That would be too disrespectful to Millwall because they did very well.

"They were very organised and played so hard so all credit to them. I'm proud, very proud I've won the FA Cup, the biggest cup in the world."

Gaz Nev
: "We weren't outstanding but we produced some good moments. Ryan Giggs and Ruud van Nistelrooy produced some good moments for us, but Cristiano Ronaldo was particularly outstanding."

"I think Ronaldo can be one of the top footballers in the world.

"To come with the price tag on his head and at his age, he has been outstanding for us this season."

Keano:
"It is always nice to win - the last one is always the nicest.

"All credit to Millwall, I thought they were outstanding.

"The goal before half-time was very important as Millwall had grown in confidence.

"Millwall had nothing to lose and we were on a hiding to nothing. It was about being patient and hoping that quality would tell, which it did."

And finally, Keano, who instigated the Jimmy Davis tribute: "It is important we remember how lucky we are."

Tim Howard: (you can take the lad out of The States.............): "For me it is awesome to win a cup and get a medal in my first year. It is a good feeling, better than advertised."

Ginger Prince:
"Cristiano's got so much skill and speed it's frightening. I can't see how a full-back can handle him when he's playing like this."

A bit from Millwall:

Ray Wilkins, King Of All Cockneys: "We are not too pleased with the scoreline but the better team won even if they had a bit of luck."

The man who could start a fire in a empty house:
"We had a lot of youngsters out there and I told them they should be proud of themselves.

"They've done fantastically well and if it had been 0-0 at half-time it might have been a different game.

"The first goal killed us. We (Ed. You mean you surely?) made a mistake and mistakes get punished against these people.

"It was a sloppy goal and maybe the result of some wrong information from Neil Harris, which I'm not happy about.

"The second goal was maybe not a penalty and the third was offside but we gave it a go although it would have been better if we had gone in 0-0 at half-time."

Neil Harris:
"We set out with a plan and it seemed it was working. But the lads were a little bit deflated when the first goal went in at such a crucial time. If we'd gone in level at half-time, United might have been panicking a bit.

"We did what we could but it was a lapse in defending just before half-time and Ruud van Nistelrooy punished us in the second half.

"He had a quiet game but scored two goals - maybe that's the gulf in class between the teams.

Robbie Ryan:
"I have never played against anyone like Ronaldo. He has quick feet, he can go inside and outside and when you go to get the ball, he just pulls it back.

"I can't believe how good he was and when is only 19, he is clearly only going to get better.'

"I think it's safe to say he has more than one trick up his sleeve.

"Near the end, when they were 2-0 up, I suppose he was showboating a little bit but given what he had done before that, he can't be condemned for that.

"If I had got close enough I might have tried to kick him, but I never had a chance.''
