Manchester United will reportedly hand Daniel James a wage rise worth £50,000 per week
though the details around that figure appear to be sketchy given previous reports.
The 22-year-old signed for United from boyhood club Swansea City in the summer for just shy of £20m and has surprisingly found himself enjoying an important role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.
James got his Red Devils career off to a flying start, scoring three times in his opening four games for the club, including a fine strike against Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
Since then, however, the goals have dried up with the Welshman failing to find the net in his 32 appearances since.
"He probably didn’t expect to be involved as much as he has been, but United want to look after him on the wages front.
We need Ighalo on the pitch, I'm not even joking. Closing the game with Daniel James isn't good enough. His decision making is quite horrendous and Ighalo is good at keeping the ball. But I'm not a manager so what do I know? 樂

"He’s an integral part of what the manager is trying to do here, we’re all very impressed."

James could be involved when United travel to Austria to take on LASK in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday. The game will take place behind closed doors due to concerns over the coronavirus, which continues to wreak havoc with the footballing schedule.
