Dean Henderson Sends Man Utd David de Gea Message & Talks Future Plans

Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, has encouraged his parent club to give David de Gea another opportunity - but the shot-stopper has also hinted that his long-term future may not be at Old Trafford if he isn't given a chance soon.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form for the Blades this season, and remains in contention to pick up the Golden Glove award at the end of the season - having picked up 11 clean sheets so far in 2019/20.

Henderson has been in excellent form this season

The goalkeeper's form, mixed with the number of high-profile mistakes De Gea has made in recent times, have led to calls for Henderson to replace the Spaniard as the Red Devils' first-choice goalkeeper next season.

Henderson has now decided to speak out on his long-term future, admitting that it may not be at Man Utd - although he would like it to be as he is a fan - if he isn't given the chance to shine by his parent club soon.

"I think it's clear for everyone to know. I want to play for Manchester United and England," Henderson told TV3. "It feels really hard at the minute. It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I'll get the opportunity [to play for United], maybe I won't, then I'll have to look down a different avenue."

Henderson also heaped praise on 'phenomenal' De Gea, claiming that he should be given the chance to put his mistakes behind him given his exploits over the past nine years.

"The fans have to remember what he's [De Gea] done for the last nine years - he's been phenomenal," Henderson added. "He's probably been the best player at United for that time period. He should get another opportunity.

"I'm a young lad. I'm working hard. I'm a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully I have a career at Man Utd like David de Gea has."

De Gea has made a number of high-profile mistakes in recent seasons

Henderson has attracted interest from elsewhere, notably Chelsea, but United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently insisted that Henderson will become England and Man Utd's number one in the future.

It was recently confirmed to 90min that the Red Devils intend to extend the Englishman's contract as a sign of their long-term commitment to him.
