Laurent Blanc could sign a one-year deal this week claims his agent Alain Migliaccio.
Ferguson is hoping that the former France captain will put pen to paper on a new deal to provide cover for another year while he continues to look for replacements.
"Maybe Laurent will decide to stay. Maybe not. It is fifty-fifty at the moment. He will make his decision some time this week," said Migliaccio.
Blanc will make his decision before leaving for the World Cup finals where he will be a pundit for French television.
