FareShare Set to Feed Over 3 Million Vulnerable People in June With Marcus Rashford's Support

Marcus Rashford's partnership with FareShare has been one of the most uplifting footballing stories during lockdown.

Kicking off back in March, the Manchester United forward threw his support behind the charity, making it his mission to provide food parcels for vulnerable families after schools across the country were forced to shut their doors.

This left hundred of thousands of children without the security of a guaranteed meal and Rashford provided a sizeable donation to the relief scheme, while encouraging others to support FareShare too.

The initiative has now reached a remarkable milestone with the 21-year-old announcing on Twitter that it had secured funding to supply three million vulnerable people with much needed food relief this month.

"Guys, I have AMAZING news," Rashford began.

"We had a goal that by end of June @fareshareuk would be able to supply three million meals to vulnerable people across the UK. TODAY we have met the financial goal to provide these meals. Thank you all SO much for the support."

It's a mighty impressive feat but Rashford will not be resting on his laurels and he encouraged people to keep on supporting FareShare.

Marcus Rashford will return to action with Manchester United later this month

"And whilst I’m celebrating this, there is SO much more to do," he wrote.

"Trust me when I say, I will keep fighting until no child in the UK has to worry about where their next meal is coming from. This is England in 2020 and families need help."

Rashford is set to return to on-field action later this month as United's Premier League season gets back underway. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side face Tottenham on Friday 19 June in a game that sees Spurs boss José Mourinho take on his former club.

The contest could have big implications on the race for the Champions League places, with fifth placed United currently enjoying a lead of just four points over the north Londoners.
