Manchester United midfielder Fred has claimed that the club will be looking to kick on and try and win the Champions League in 2020/21 - should they qualify for the competition.
United know that at least a draw with Leicester on the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season will be enough to see them qualify for Europe's top competition next term. However, the Red Devils will be hoping to pick up all three points as they look to claim third spot in the table.

But should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men fall to defeat on Sunday and Chelsea pick up at least a point against Wolves, United will drop out of the top four and will be faced with the prospect of no Champions League football next season - unless they are able to win the Europa League.
As a result, Sunday's match is crucially important to the outcome of United's season, and Fred has now taken the chance to highlight just how important the Champions League is to the Premier League outfit. While their qualification is by no means confirmed, the Brazilian has shown his confidence in his teammates by claiming that United will not just look to put up a good fight in the Champions League in 2020/21 should they qualify, but rather they will look to win the competition.
“As a club we should be in the Champions League every year as we’re a massive club,“ Fred told Man Utd's official website. “So to be back in the Champions League is really important for us players, it's also important for the club.
“It’s what the players and the club deserve and it will be great to be back in the Champions League next season and we will look to win the Champions League next season.”
Of course, United are one of the biggest clubs in world football and their ultimate goal should be to be consistently playing Champions League football and looking to win it. However, Fred may perhaps be considered to be getting ahead of himself to a certain extent with these remarks, as there is still plenty of work for Solskjaer to do.
United have shown signs of real fatigue in recent weeks, but the boss will be desperate for his side to pick up a positive result on Sunday in order to officially book their place in next season's Champions League. Maybe then Fred can begin to dream about winning the competition.
