Talking about Rooney:
"It appears the treatment has gone quite well so far, but to make a mistake and play him before he is fit would be disastrous.
"He has said he's feeling good, but they will have to make absolutely sure that he is fit before he comes back.
"It's not just a case of him playing as soon as he has recovered, he will need a week or so to get fully fit.
"He is a very valuable player and he's a leader. If he plays well the rest of the team seem to follow.
"I'm sure the Manchester United and England medical staff will make sure he doesn't come back before he has recovered."
