Aberdeen missed out on a potential £3m windfall in the January transfer window, after a move to Manchester United failed to materialise for Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser.
The Scottish club sold the 25-year-old to the Cherries in 2013, and the Dons inserted a clause in the deal which entitled them to 20% of any future fee that was generated by the sale of the winger.
The Daily Record reports that United were one of a number of top-flight sides who explored the possibility of signing Fraser, but the winger will instead leave Bournemouth on a free transfer at the end of the season - meaning Aberdeen have missed out on making any money on their former asset.
With the Scotland international refusing to extend his stay on the south coast beyond 2020, the Cherries were prepared to entertain any offers in the region of £15m for their wantaway star.
