INJURY UPDATE

Rio Ferdinand came through seventy minutes of his debut last night Fergie
said:

"There was a certain amount of risk but he's now had his first game and
should be alright for Saturday,"

However Paul Scholes is the latest United player to pick up an injury. He will
be out for around two weeks after twisting his ankle. Fergie said

"I think he will be out for two weeks."

He will join Nicky Butt on the treatment table. Butt missed last night's match
with a toe injury.

Meanwhile Fergie has done his best to deny that Roy Keane could be set to
go under the surgeons knife. After last night's game he said that there was
"no foundation whatsoever" in reports that Keane had been booked into a
private clinic today to undergo a "clean-up" operation on the hip. When asked
further about the midfield player's fitness, he elaborated only slightly but did
not rule out that there was a problem. "I don't know," he said. "Maybe, but he
played tonight, didn't he?"

The Sun report that Keane will have the operation today and will be out of
action until November.
