Inter Milan are poised to make a £10million bid for Manchester United outcast Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Italian giants are understood to have sounded out van Nistelrooy's agent and United about the prospect of signing the out-of-favour Dutchman.

Although United value van Nistelrooy higher than £10m, they are understood to be willing to accept Inter's offer.

The 29-year-old fell out with Sir Alex Ferguson after the United boss accused him of undermining team spirit in the final week of the season.

Fergie plans to get rid of van Nistelrooy and bring in a younger, hungrier striker to fit in with Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and emerging prospect Giuseppe Rossi.
