Jadon Sancho refuses to discuss Man Utd after Ukraine victory

Soon-to-be Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho was not interested in discussing his imminent move to Old Trafford in the aftermath of England's 4-0 win over Ukraine on Saturday.

United have confirmed they have struck a £72.9m agreement to lure Sancho away from Borussia Dortmund, 12 months after they initially tried to bring him in.

With his club future now sorted, Sancho can now direct all his attention on to England. He was handed his first minutes of Euro 2020 in the quarter-final triumph over Ukraine, after which Sancho stressed that he wants to keep his mind on his country for the time being.

"To be fair, I don't want to talk about Manchester United," he said (via the Daily Mail). "Right now I just want to focus on England.

"I'm feeling over the moon. [The Ukraine game] was must-win and I'm just happy to have got an opportunity to play. This is a special moment for me.

"Every time I haven't been playing I've been going back to training and been giving it everything. I've just been focusing on myself while I've been at England. I've always been ready if I needed to come on. We knew today was going to be a big game, Ukraine are a very good side. I'm delighted."

Sancho, who was impressive against Ukraine, will have at least one more opportunity to build some momentum ahead of moving to United when England face Denmark in the semi-final at Wembley on Wednesday.

Should England make it through, they will face either Italy or Spain in the final on July 11, after which Sancho will make his long-awaited switch to Old Trafford.

Sancho has agreed a five-year contract with United, who will also have the option to extend his contract by a further season.

With his transfer all but wrapped up, United can now switch their attention to signing other targets, with Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane thought to be the new priority.
