Jadon Sancho to undergo Man Utd medical ahead of £73m transfer

Jadon Sancho is expected to arrive at Manchester United's training complex in Carrington on Tuesday to undergo a medical.

United have agreed a £73m deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign the winger, whose exploits with England at Euro 2020 this summer have delayed things ever so slightly.

With the tournament now over, Sancho is free to concentrate on his club football and the Daily Mail state he is scheduled to arrive in Manchester on Tuesday for his long-awaited medical and finalise the terms of his move.

Once everything is taken care of, Sancho plans to head off on holiday to catch his breath after a hectic season, so he will be a late arrival to United's pre-season camp.

With a deal for Sancho all but wrapped up, United have turned their attention to fixing other holes in the squad. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new priority is at centre-back, where he is looking for a permanent partner to Harry Maguire.

All the signs suggest it will be Real Madrid's Raphael Varane lining up alongside Maguire next season. Sky Sports News state United have been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the Frenchman and it is understood that they are close to reaching an agreement.

Varane, who has refused to add to the one year remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, is open to joining United this summer, but the move hinges on whether an agreement over a transfer fee can be found.

Earlier in the window, Real were tipped to hold out for £80m for the 28-year-old, but United are understandably adamant they will not get anywhere near that fee for a player who is available for free next year and are looking to pay around half that.

Real are expected to drop their demands, and the fact that they have given United permission to meet with the player suggests that they believe a deal can be struck.

United are also pursuing a new midfielder, with Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga high on their wish list.
