Juventus Willing to Sell Aaron Ramsey After One Season Due to Financial Constraints

Juventus are open to letting go of midfielder Aaron Ramsey this summer, amid financial concerns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 29-year-old joined the Italian giants at the start of the season, leaving after a fruitful period with Arsenal. With the Welshman’s debut campaign interrupted by injury problems all year, he may already be on his way out of Turin.

As reported by the Mail, Juventus have put Ramsey up for sale in a bid to cut their wage bill. Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing the midfielder, albeit on a far lower salary than he currently earns.

Ramsey joined Juventus last July on a free transfer, bringing an end to 11 years with Arsenal. He signed an eye-watering deal which sees him earn £400,000 a week, the highest ever basic weekly salary for a British player.

However, his debut season hasn’t fully lived up to expectation. Ramsey has made 24 appearances this season, with 15 coming in Serie A. He has played less minutes this season than the likes of Danilo and Adrien Rabiot, though abductor and fitness problems have reduced his gametime.

The Welsh midfielder will be available this summer, with two English clubs alerted that he will be on the transfer market. Whether Ramsey himself will countenance such a move, though, is yet to be seen – similar in some ways to his countryman Gareth Bale's situation at Real Madrid.

The coronavirus pandemic has already had a grave impact on football, with Serie A among a number of countless leagues around the world to be suspended. It will also have a significant effect on the transfer market as a whole, with speculation over reduced transfer fees.

Juventus are currently top of Serie A, just one point clear with 12 points to go. They resume action on 22 June with a trip to Bologna, as Maurizio Sarri’s Bianconeri chase their ninth straight Scudetto in a period of unprecedented domestic dominance.
