KEANE SHOULD PLAY IN THE FINAL

Fergie is confident that Keano will feature in the final on Saturday:

"He has trained for the last three days, has suffered no reaction so far and I don't expect he will have one. You always want your best players on the pitch and he is still the biggest influence on our team.

“He is our captain, he has been there more times than anyone else and it is natural we would want him there.

"He has trained for the last three days and for a player of his experience, I don't anticipate his lack of recent match practice being a problem."

Keane himself said:

“I'm fairly confident I'll be OK. I would have liked to have played a few more games and if I felt I wasn't quite there I wouldn't want to deprive a team-mate of a cup final appearance.

"It's always very nice to be involved in games like this because that's what you're in football for. When you look back on your career you want to say not how much money you've earned but how many medals you've won."

However Dennis Wise has a leg muscle problem which forced him to fly to Italy for specialist treatment ahead of the final.

“Dennis means to us what Roy Keane is to Manchester United...It would be a massive loss to the team. He's desperate to play,” assistant manager Ray Wilkins said.
