KEEGAN UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Guardian report that King Kev is just one manager who
will be under investigation following a complaint to FIFA by
the Danish FA. Keegan’s links to the Proactive Management
sports agency has led to accusations of a conflict of
interest.

The signing of Peter Schmeichel from Aston Villa is quoted
as an example. Proactive received a fee for negotiating the
deal which may have had benefits to shareholders such as
Keegan. Other signings by Keegan include Niclas Jensen and
Mikkel Bischoff, both clients of Proactive.

Another deal which may raise concerns is the £7.5m transfer
of Andy Cole to Blackburn. Graeme Souness held 400’000
shares in Proactive at the time, and the deal was done
through them.

Of course, regular readers of Backbeat will have known about
this for some time.
