LA Galaxy Set to Confirm Signing of Javier Hernández From Sevilla

LA Galaxy are believed to have completed the signing of striker Javier Hernández from Sevilla, with the club expected to announce the deal in the near future.

Having lost Zlatan Ibrahimović at the end of last season, Galaxy were keen on recruiting another big name to try and make up for the loss of the charismatic Swede, and Hernández quickly emerged as a potential option.

Sports Illustrated now report that the deal is already done, with the Mexican penning a contract which will make him the highest earner in Major League Soccer.

There is no mention of when Galaxy will officially confirm this deal, but SI suggest that it cannot be far away as everything has already been finalised.

The man known as 'Chicharito' only joined Sevilla during the summer, leaving West Ham United in a deal worth over £7m, but he has started just four games in La Liga this season, scoring just once.

Hernández was initially hesitant to make the switch to MLS, but has since been convinced that this is the right time for the 31-year-old to head over to North America.

He will certainly have big shoes to fill in Los Angeles. Ibrahimović fired home 53 goals in just 58 appearances for Galaxy during his two years with the club, competing with Los Angeles FC's Carlos Vela for the league's scoring title.

Vela has already predicted that Hernández would be successful in MLS, saying: "He's a scoring machine. He's always there looking to score goals, [but] he also does a really good job defending for his team.

"I think it's really important if they get him, because he's a good player, and I think he can be a good signing for everybody if it happens."

Should Galaxy confirm this move, Hernández would become the club's fourth addition of the winter, following Emiliano Insúa, formerly of Liverpool, Sacha Kljestan and Aleksandar Katai.
