LET'S NOT GET CARRIED AWAY

"We're in the frame and that's the place you want to be. There's a lot of football to be played and I wouldn't dare to even suggest that we will win the league at this point as I know how difficult it is," said Ferguson after the game on Saturday.

"Other people maybe do that but I just look at the next game. Winning the league is not just about beating Liverpool, or even Arsenal for that matter. The key is consistency, regardless of the opposition."

Phil Neville was a tad more forthcoming.

He told MUTV: "We were six points behind them and now it's three. If results go our way and we beat West Ham next Saturday, then we could be joint top of the league for the first time this season.

"That's what it's all about now. We need to get back to the top of the league as quickly as possible. The manager spoke about the commitment and desire of the team against Liverpool and wanted us to continue that."

"You can't allow a team like Arsenal to have time on the ball and that was our game plan. They're top of the league and they're there to be beaten."

Phil knows his place:

"But although the players who have come in have done really well, the sooner we get the likes of Keaney, Becks and Rio, it will paint a healthier picture as any team would miss world-class players like that."

Even Veron came out in front of the camera:

"I don't get down if I'm not scoring goals, but obviously it's fantastic to get my first league goal of the season and what better time to score than that?

"I think it has come at a key time for me. If I can carry on improving my performances, then I'd say there is even better to come. I know I need to continue improving but certainly it helps your own personal morale and spirit when you are part of a team, which puts in a performance like that. We are right back in it but the important thing now is to capitalise on it. The difficult thing is keeping that going in every game.

"It's easy to get fired up for big occasions like this but we need to do it in every game."
