LIES, MISINFORMATION AND DECEPTION

David Beckham today said his agents had NOT initiated his move away from Manchester United:

"That never went on. Of course I would have been happier if the transfer had been done differently but I don't want to talk about that side of it. I'm a Real Madrid player now and I'm looking forward to it.”

So it must have been a different Beckham that new team mate Roberto Carlos was talking about yesterday:

"I asked Beckham if he was coming to Real Madrid [at the end of the 2nd leg]. He just nodded and gave me a little smile."

And clearly Beckham had no idea that he may be moving to Spain when Ricardo when public back in March with the news that Becks had been asking him about the quality of schools in Madrid.

Elsewhere in the Press they’re still insinuating that United forced Beckham out against his will, even ludicrously claiming that he took a pay cut to be sure of the move.

This is apparently because Madrid will claim 50% of his outside earnings, failing to mention that Madrid will respect any current sponsorship deals and only claim the 50% of any new deals Beckham may or may not negotiate.

Jorge Valdano:

"We demand 50% of our players' image rights. We consider this issue indispensable because the other players have followed this policy. In the case of Beckham it was more complicated because his potential image is very impressive, but the player agreed.”

Meanwhile Fergie has said of Beckham in an interview in Sports Illustrated magazine:

"He was blessed with great stamina, the best of all the players I've had here. After training, he'd always be practising, practising, practising. But his life changed when he met his wife.

"She's in pop and David got another image. He's developed this 'fashion thing'. I saw his transition to a different person."
