Luke Shaw hails Jadon Sancho's recovery from tricky Man Utd start

Luke Shaw has heaped praise on Manchester United teammate Jadon Sancho for handling the pressure that comes with making a slow start to life at Old Trafford.

A £73m signing from Borussia Dortmund during the summer, Sancho managed just one goal in his first 18 Premier League appearances and was not always a permanent starter, but he has flipped that narrative on its head and has been one of the team's top performers in recent weeks.

Sancho has netted in his last two home games, including capping off an excellent showing with a goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southampton, and Shaw admitted he was impressed with his teammate's response to the pressure.

“It wasn’t going to be easy for him, it’s tough to settle in, not too many settle in straight away, his form is picking up really well, he’s really impressing me at the moment, impressing everyone and he needs to keep that up," Shaw told MUTV.

"I know he can get better and better, he’s doing really well, he needs to keep his head up and keep his confidence. You can see his confidence is high and he’s improving and getting better and better."

Sancho's performances have also impressed interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who was delighted to see the winger flash the sort of form that saw him dominate the Bundesliga.

“Jadon is in good shape, not only in the first half but also, in the second half, he had his good moments," Rangnick began.

"With Jadon’s performances in the last couple of games, I’m very pleased. This is the Jadon we know from the German Bundesliga.

“There is still more space for improvement in him, but the way he is playing right now, it is probably the best Jadon Sancho that Manchester United has seen so far.”
