Man Utd Captain Ashley Young Has Pre-Contract Offers From More Than Just Inter

Exclusive - Manchester United captain Ashley Young has a number of pre-contract offers on the table as he weighs up his future, meaning that it is more than just Inter who want the 34-year-old veteran.

Young is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and is already permitted to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

Inter have already been in talks over a January transfer that would see Young move to Milan immediately on an 18-month contract. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to rule out any such departure when he spoke about the need for United not to weaken themselves.

Young, who has spent nine years in Manchester and is among United’s three longest serving players alongside Phil Jones and David de Gea, is a wanted man. 90min has learned that multiple pre-contract offers - more than just Inter’s - have been presented to him.

It already appears that Young has made the decision to leave Old Trafford, with a report from The Sun claiming that he has turned down the offer of a contract extension.

The tabloid explains that Solskjaer is ‘desperate’ for Young to stay for another year because he is an ‘important voice’ in a dressing room that generally lacks experience and senior players.

Should Young choose Inter, it would given him another crack at playing Champions League football before he retires. The Nerazzurri currently lead Serie A on goal difference and will almost certainly be in Europe’s elite competition next season. United, on the other hands, are struggling in the Premier League and are not expected to qualify as things stand.

Young would also have at least one familiar face at San Siro if he winds up there, with United selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter at the start of this season. Alexis Sanchez is also currently on loan there until the end of the campaign, but his future beyond that is uncertain.
