Man Utd Consider Bournemouth Duo as Back-Up Options This Summer if They're Unable to Sign Preferred

Manchester United would consider moves for Bournemouth duo Josh King and David Brooks this summer should they be unable to sign any of their preferred targets.

The Red Devils are reportedly in the market for a winger and striker this summer and have set their sights on a number of exciting players such as Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham.

However, especially considering the current coronavirus pandemic, United may be unable to push deals over the line for their preferred options this summer, and would therefore consider pursuing both King and Brooks of Bournemouth.

King and Brooks are potentially being lined up by Manchester United this summer

According to the Manchester Evening News, the duo are being lined up at Old Trafford in a worse case scenario, but United are hopeful that they won't have to go after either player.

King almost re-joined United in the January transfer window following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's desperate search for a striker, but the deal fell through as a result of Bournemouth's £30m asking price. The Red Devils opted to sign Odion Ighalo instead, but the Nigerian's contract is set to expire this summer.

Ighalo has impressed at Old Trafford since his unexpected arrival and United are keen to keep him in England for the foreseeable future, although they're 'relaxed' about the situation. If they can't tie the forward down to a new deal then it could pave the way for a return to Manchester for Bournemouth's King.

King has struggled for form this term with just four goals in all competitions, while Brooks has missed the entire campaign so far for Bournemouth, after suffering a season-ending injury in July.

Grealish and Maddison have both impressed United this season

United's number one target this summer is Sancho but the Englishman's enormous price tag may dissuade the Red Devils in the current market. Aston Villa's Grealish and Leicester's James Maddison have also been linked with Solskjaer's side, with a deal for the former looking most likely at present.

United are also interested in coveted teenager Bellingham of Birmingham City, but Ed Woodward has confessed that this summer's transfer window won't be straightforward as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
