Manchester United are looking to extend Old Trafford by around 15,000 with a £200m refurb of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.
United have appointed the same planners who designed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to prepare some long-overdue modernisation to Old Trafford, with a number of different proposals being analysed.
According to the Daily Mail, the likeliest outcome is a focus on expanding the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand as United look to satisfy the 100,000 supporters who have signed up to be on the season-ticket waitlist next summer.
That capacity won't be reached, but United are looking to add another 15,000 seats to take Old Trafford's capacity up to 88,000, making it the second biggest stadium in England behind Wembley.
Before those plans can be signed off, United want to ensure that they will be enough interest in attending games to fill the larger stadium every week, but the waiting list for tickets suggests there won't be an issue there.
Upgrades of the club's corporate facilities are also in the pipeline, with United ready to front a bill of around £200m for the work.
Club officials will borrow the money to finance that work, with their existing debt of nearly £500m not expected to be a problem when it comes to obtaining that new loan.
