Man Utd fans plan protests ahead of Erik ten Hag's first home game

A group of Manchester United fans are planning another protest against the club's owners, the Glazer family, ahead of the first home game of the Erik ten Hag era.

Criticisms of the Glazers have marred the last two seasons for United and were ramped up on Friday as United paid out an £11m dividend to their shareholders, the majority of which goes to the Glazers.

Last year, the Glazers pocketed £8m of a £10.7m dividend and they're set to receive a similar fee this year, one month after it was confirmed that United's debts had risen to close to £500m.

Fans have criticised the Glazers' willingness to continue taking money out of United at a time in which significant investment is needed in both the infrastructure and the playing squad, on top of repaying that massive debt.

With frustration mounting, the Manchester Evening News note that a group of fans are already planning to voice their anger ahead of Ten Hag's first home game next month.

The Dutch boss will make his Old Trafford debut in a pre-season game against Rayo Vallecano on July 31, before which a number of supporters are planning to protest the Glazer ownership.

Earlier this summer, United chief executive Richard Arnold urged fans to put their frustrations towards the Glazers to one side in a show of support for Ten Hag.

"Football is a game of passion and we fully respect the fans’ right to make their feelings known, as long as this remains legal and peaceful at all times," Arnold said.

"I would very much hope that all fans within Old Trafford approach next season with renewed optimism and confidence as we look forward to a fresh start under Erik ten Hag.

"We have the best fans in the world and when Old Trafford is at its loudest, we have a significant advantage against our opponents. I hope this unrivalled passion will be used to support the team and the new manager as we start this exciting new chapter together."
