Man Utd 'Make Enquiry' to Wolves Regarding Ruben Neves & Raul Jimenez

​Manchester United have made an inquiry over the availability of Wolves' Ruben Neves, and teammate Raul Jimenez, with an ambitious view to signing the pair in the January window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have struggled for consistency throughout the season, winning just eight of their 21 league matches, prompting the club to consider delving into the winter window for reinforcements.

Having been linked with almost every midfielder in the ​Premier League over recent months, another to add to the list appears to be ​Wolves ace Neves. The midfielder netted four goals and registered six assists last season as Nuno Espirito Santo's side secured a place in the Europa League. Meanwhile his form has continued this season, with Wolves just one point and two places behind United in seventh.

According to ​Goal, United have made contact with Neves' representatives about a potential move, as Solskjaer bids to solve a midfield that currently has both Scott McTominay and ​Paul Pogba currently out injured.

News of ​United's interest follows on from reports that the club were eyeing a deal for Neves' fellow teammate Raul Jimenez, which prompted managers of both clubs to offer ​differing responses to the rumours.

While a move for Jimenez may not suit United's current transfer policy of hiring young, British talent, at least a move for Neves fits one of those criteria. Solskjaer is keen to bring in players he can develop into future stars, while since the player isn't blessed with the same level of experience as Jimenez, for example, he also offers a more credible resale value in the future.

Still only 22, Neves does boast some familiarity with the top-flight in his two-and-a-half seasons at Molineux, but has demonstrated the potential to continue developing throughout his career.

Neves has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, especially during fellow countryman Jose Mourinho's stint in the north west, but these latest developments indicate a more determined approach from United to secure the player. 

However, whether United are willing to meet Wolves' asking price or indeed the Midlands club are willing to sanction his departure midway through a season is a different matter. Neves' current deal expires in 2023, and some reports suggest he is valued at anywhere up to £100m.

Furthermore, Goal add that should Neves leave Wolves, his preference would be Serie A champions Juventus - if the opportunity arose.
