Man Utd Offer £12.5m for Birmingham City Teenage Sensation Jude Bellingham

Manchester United are said to have tabled a bid of £12.5m for Birmingham City's Jude Bellingham as they step up their bid to land the teenage starlet.

The 16-year-old is seen as one of the hottest properties in European football and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to snap him up.

In spite of his age, Bellingham has been deployed at the heart of Birmingham's midfield in the Championship this season and has starred in a struggling team.

Manchester United now lead the race to sign one of most sought after young talents in the game and are ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich in the hunt to capture his signature, according to the Mirror.

It was previously reported that Bellingham was not looking to jump ship anytime soon despite interest from some of Europe's leading clubs.

This season has been a breakthrough year for Bellingham, who has emerged as a standout at St Andrew's, and although he doesn't turn 17 until June he already has 23 senior appearances and three goals to his name.

His debut in August came away at Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup and made him the Blues' youngest ever first-team player as he eclipsed the record set by club legend Trevor Francis.

Since then he hasn't looked back and Bellingham was soon making his league bow at Swansea. Then, in his first home game for the club, the boyhood fan scored the winner as his side came from a goal behind to beat Stoke 2-1.

Bellingham's performances in a Blues shirt have not gone unnoticed and he was rewarded in November by receiving the Championship Player of the Month award.

Achievements such as that have attracted the attention of the likes of Premier League giants United and prompted the Red Devils to make such an attractive offer.

However, despite Birmingham's financial troubles which may lead them to yet another points deduction, the deal may not be as clear cut as some may think.

Although the price tag would be tempting for the midfielder, Bellingham himself is a Bluenose and has a strong attachment to the club he joined as an Under-8.

The Mirror then hark back to the aforementioned earlier report that confirmed the midfielder was in no rush to leave the Midlands and his dad Mark has so far steered his son clear of any approaches made by potential suitors.

It remains to be seen whether Birmingham can afford to turn down such a transfer fee but the player himself appears happy to remain with the club and all at St Andrew's will be praying he stays until at least the summer.
