Manchester United have called an ‘emergency board meeting’ following Saturday’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Watford.
The result marked a fifth defeat in seven Premier League game for Solskjaer’s side, which includes previous embarrassing losses against Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Norwegian has been under considerable pressure since the Liverpool game last month and with now four games under his belt to turn things around, hasn’t made any headway.
The Times has reported that the emergency ‘virtual’ meeting has been called for 7pm on Saturday night, only two hours after the game at Vicarage Road ended.
Solskjaer’s time at United could potentially be coming to an end as the newspaper adds that the terms of his compensation package is on the agenda at the meeting.
In addition, it is said that the Glazer family’s discontent with Solskjaer has been growing and they have asked club officials to ‘accelerate’ efforts to persuade Zinedine Zidane to take over by upping their presumably already lucrative offer to the former Real Madrid boss.
Solskjaer has been in charge at Old Trafford since December 2018 when he replaced Jose Mourinho, initially on an interim basis. He was awarded a permanent contract the following March and has overseen general progress during his time in charge.
The Norwegian got a new three-year contract ahead of this season, but results and performances in the past two months have been nothing short of woeful.
