Man Utd scouted 3 targets at Ajax vs Benfica - including Ryan Gravenberch & Antony

Manchester United were one of a host of clubs present at the Champions League clash between Ajax and Benfica in midweek, and 90min has been informed that Antony was the main reason.

Despite cruising through the group stage, Erik Ten Hag's side suffered a shock 1-0 loss on the evening which saw them dumped out of the Champions League by the Portuguese giants.

Ten Hag is currently favourite to be appointed new permanent United manager in the summer and he would bring a catalogue of knowledge with him on certain players.

United's scouting department is constantly keeping abreast of their top targets and 90min has learned from sources close to the club that a high level scouting team was indeed dispatched to the Amsterdam in midweek - one of the main reasons for the visit was to look at Antony.

The Brazilian winger has emerged as one of the hottest attacking prospects in Europe, although he did not have his best game on Tuesday night as Benfica ran out winners.

Also on the United radar in Ajax red and white was midfielder teenage Ryan Gravenberch. Like Antony, he is a someone who the Premier League club have been watching for most of this season and the 19-year-old does have extensive interest from elsewhere around Europe.

However, it was not only Ajax players being watched by United's senior scouting team. 90min can confirm they have also been putting together a detailed report on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan is one of the top scorers in the continent this season and was the subject of a January bid from West Ham. But he is being watched by a host of clubs - including eyes from Old Trafford, who are set to be in the market for a new 'number nine' in the summer.

Clubs have seen the way Luis Diaz has made a seamless transition to Premier League football with Liverpool and many watching Nunez believe he could have a similar impact.
