Man Utd 'Staying on Top' of Thomas Meunier Situation Amid Uncertainty Over PSG Future

Manchester United are monitoring Thomas Meunier's situation as Paris Saint-Germain as the defender's future remains unsolved.

The Belgian has been with the club since 2016, and while never a regular starter, has proved himself to be a valuable asset to the club and reliable squad player.

He has never surpassed 24 league outings in a single campaign, but he remains a regular fixture with the Belgium national squad and an important member of Thomas Tuchel's outfit. However, his contract is due to expire in the summer and he has not been short of suitors as his future remains uncertain.

Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked of late, with some reports going as far as claiming 'he has signed' for Die Borussen. The news coming out of France suggests otherwise, though, as Le Foot throw United into the mix with claims that they are 'staying on top' of the right-back's situation. They also add that Inter have registered interest.

How desperately the Red Devils crave right-back additions is another matter, though. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka enjoying a solid debut campaign at Old Trafford this term, the necessity for further reinforcements is a bit off - with other positions taking priority. Diogo Dalot can fill that role too, although he has been more recently fielded in an advanced position.

While Meunier would be a adequate - if hardly outstanding - squad addition, since he has free reign of where he could go in the summer, you'd imagine some decent wages would need to be parted with to lure him to the Premier League.

Apart from that, the player himself has stressed he'd prefer to remain in the French capital. Speaking on a live Q&A with RTBF, he revealed his 'main objective' is to stay in Paris.

That said, he did big himself up somewhat amusingly, by suggesting that any club interested in his services wouldn't be getting a 'bad deal', and that even if he lost one of his legs to 'gangrene' (yes, honestly), whoever signed him wouldn't be missing out financially. Well, that's certainly one way of putting it.
