Manchester United are finally believed to be closing in on a €70m deal to sign Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes during the January transfer window after relentless links with the player.
The Portugal international, who was directly involved in 50 goals last season, has been one of the club's long-term targets as they look to add some extra creativity to their midfield.
Although Manchester United's interest in Fernandes hasn't led to his arrival at Old Trafford so far,
"Now Sporting will accept €70m, but paid in instalments. United is a club that Bruno Fernandes really likes in England, it's a club that he really wants to play for.
"Talks have been intensified in the last couple of days, so we're kind of expecting that it might be close."
Although claims from the Portuguese media will do little to entice United fans given the long-running saga surrounding Fernandes, the BBC's Richard Askam has also suggested that a deal might not be too far away.

Officials from the Portuguese club are still in Manchester to hold talks over a potential transfer this month.
Aside from Daniel James' arrival this season, Manchester United haven't actually made an attacking signing in the transfer market since Alexis Sánchez's move from Arsenal during the 2017/18 campaign.
