Manchester United 'Hold Initial Talks' With Wantaway Juventus Midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United have held initial talks with Adrien Rabiot's agent regarding the player's future at Juventus, according to a report.

He may have only joined the Bianconeri last summer, but given that he was a free transfer, the Italian side could use that to their advantage and sell him on in the summer to raise the funds needed to make their own additions.

As one of the 550 central midfielders at the club at present, it is an area of the pitch that Maurizio Sarri is willing to lighten - this despite Rabiot making 24 appearances for the club across all competitions this season. He is yet to register a single goal or assist, but that hasn't put Premier League eyes off his signature.

Links to Everton and Arsenal have emerged recently, with both clubs thought to be in discussions with his agent, who just so happens to be his mother, Veronique.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sportwitness), now United have got in touch with Rabiot's representatives, although who contacted who first is not clear.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing up new additions this summer, but given his most recent blunt comments about how he'd rather 'have a hole than an a**ehole' in his squad, this is a move that has an element of doubt about it.

On the logical side, United would be more than capable of matching the Frenchman's £120k-per-week wages, but given the fact his attitude has repeatedly been brought into question, especially during his Paris Saint-Germain days, the character of the player doesn't appear to fit the ethos of what Solskjaer is trying to forge at Old Trafford.

United have been linked to Rabiot in the past, though, with their name being mentioned as far back as during his breakthrough into the senior PSG squad around 2012. There will likely be a few ridiculous variations of Rabiot and Paul Pogba swap deals mooted now, so get read for those.
