Manchester United targets Nainggolan and Pjanic being lined up in Roma raid

Louis van Gaal has had the thumbs-up from the board for returning Manchester United to the Champions League, albeit via a potentially dangerous play-off and now intends to bring in more talent

The squad rebuild which has already cost eye-watering sums of money will enter a further phase with Memphis Depay already captured and links emerging with virtually every major transfer prospect in Europe.

Under the surface are a few quality players who United are keeping close tabs on with Radja Nainggolan looking strong for a move with Roma needing to balance the books and the midfielder is seen as a player that could perform a similar role to Michael Carrick.

The 27-year-old Belgium international was a late developer and helped Roma who he joined after a loan spell to automatic qualification to the Champions League

The player started his senior career at Piacenza in 2006, moving to Cagliari in 2010 before going out on loan to Roma in 2014

Nainggolan signed a permanent deal with Roma in the summer of 2014.

Speculation seems to suggest that both Nainggolan and Miralem Pjanic are being lined up as a double transfer for £50million

Pjanic is a quality playmaker and something of a headline-writers dream but you do wonder if Manchester United need another midfield playmaker but they would be an interesting duo for Van Gaal to have at his disposal

The report which originates from Forza values Nainggolan at £29m and Pjanic at £21.7m.
