Marcus Rashford responds to video of clash with Man Utd fans after Champions League exit

Marcus Rashford has responded to a video circulating on social media showing a heated exchange with Manchester United fans following the club's Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

United lost 1-0 on the night, a result which ensured they crashed out of the competition at the last-16 stage 1-2 on aggregate.

Rashford came on as a substitute in the second half, replacing Anthony Elanga, but he failed to make an impact. He has endured a challenging season overall, registering just five goals and two assists in 26 games in all competitions.

On a video circulating on social media, Rashford can be seen arguing with United supporters after Wednesday's defeat. Several fans loudly criticise the forward as he walks towards the team bus and he eventually turns around to respond.

Rashford has now responded to the video, revealing he 'let his emotion get the better of me' and that 'in this moment it was silly but I was being human'.

He also says he did not gesture with his middle finger, revealing he told a fan to 'come and say it to my face'.

The incident is another embarrassing moment in United's season. On the pitch they have no remaining opportunities to end their wait for silverware, while their chances of securing a top-four finish are slim.

They are currently just one point behind Arsenal, who occupy the last Champions League qualification spot, but the Gunners have three games in hand.
