Marcus Rashford Returns to Manchester United Training After Four Months Out Injured

Marcus Rashford was back training with Manchester United on Friday, following a lengthy spell out on the sidelines.

The 22-year-old has been out injured since the start of the year, picking up a back injury that has kept him out for the majority of 2020. As Premier League clubs returned to training in the first steps of the return of football, Rashford was pictured finally training again.

The club took to Twitter to show Rashford’s return to training, tweeting images of the English forward at the club’s training ground. It is a hugely positive sign for the Red Devils, who have noticeably been lacking their top scorer.

Rashford spoke about his time on the sidelines at the start of May, explaining how he has been coping without being on the pitch.

Speaking on the club’s Ask Man Utd series, he said: “I have just been working, you know, I have sort of had my head down. It has been a tough period for me, the last few months, obviously being injured, but in the last few weeks I have been able to step on it a bit more, so I have just been getting my head down and working.”

Marcus Rashford pulls up injured against Wolves in Januar.

Rashford aggravated up his back injury in Manchester United’s FA Cup win against Wolves in January, coming on as a substitute before being forced off injured 16 minutes later. The Englishman has missed 13 matches across all competitions, including the last seven Premier League fixtures.

He added: “I’m privileged enough to have the equipment that I need at home, so it’s not much different for me as I do a lot of work at home anyway. I’m just staying indoors, making sure I’m eating right. For me, motivation has always been quite simple.

“It changes as time goes on, but now that everything outside the pitch is dealt with, I can just focus on improving myself.”

Marcus Rashford celebrates scoring for Manchester United.

Rashford has scored 19 goals in 31 appearances this season, as he sits top of the scoring charts at United. He is joint sixth with Liverpool’s Sadio Mané in the Premier League scoring charts, his most goals in a top flight season since his league debut in February 2016.

Manchester United are fifth in the league, three points off the Champions League spots. The Red Devils are looking to record just their second top four finish in five years, after finishing sixth last season.
