Marcus Rashford trying to convince Paul Pogba to stay at Man Utd

Marcus Rashford is among a handful of senior Manchester United players thought to be trying to convince Paul Pogba to stay at the club and sign a new contract.

Pogba’s existing contract expires at the end of this season, at which point he would be able to leave as a free agent. Long-standing admirers Real Madrid and Juventus would be keen in that scenario, while Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with an approach this summer.

90min has previously revealed that United officials are split over to proceed with Pogba. Some are concerned about losing him for nothing next summer, but others have doubts over whether he is worth retaining at the vast cost of a new contract potentially worth £400,000 per week.

Pogba himself is in no hurry to decide his future and wants to assess all his options, with no guarantee that he will sign a hugely lucrative United contract even if it is offered.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been hoping to build his midfield around Pogba and Bruno Fernandes and it seems that United players also don’t want to see the Frenchman leave.

According to The Sun, Rashford and several other big names in the United squad are trying to persuade Pogba to stay and commit his future to the club.

Pogba’s United colleagues consider him a ‘world-class’ player who would be a big loss were he to go. He is also a dressing room leader and is an important influence on the younger players.

French broadcaster RMC has reported that PSG intend to ‘accelerate’ their interest in Pogba and will look to open talks over a potential transfer. That interest is said to be reciprocated by the player, while PSG could see Ander Herrera and Rafinha to create additional room.
