MATCH QUOTES

Ferguson:

"They would really need to make catastrophic mistakes to lose this league but you never know.

"I keep hoping that something happens and tomorrow I will have my red and white scarf on supporting Liverpool."

"I think the sensible opinion is that Chelsea have got the title as long as they don't throw it away.

"Things can happen. It happened to us once. But they are consistent. They would really need to make catastrophic mistakes to lose this league but you never know.

"Having lost on Wednesday it was important for us to recover and I'm proud of my players for the way they keep getting results.

"In fairness to Fulham they had a go and I felt we had to score goals. In the second half we had to dig in but scoring four goals at home makes us worthy winners.

"You have to be honest and say it was offside. (3rd goal)

"But it is good to get one of those decisions in our favour because we have had some absolute corkers go against us recently."

Gary Neville:

"It was huge for us to get a win today.

"We didn’t play badly at Blackburn but we gave bad goals away. We had to get back to winning ways somehow and we’ve done that.

"Now we’ve got a bit of a break before the next match.

"We’ve had a lot of games over the last two months, more than anybody else because of the Carling Cup semi-final and the FA Cup replay.

"Maybe we’ve seen a bit of tiredness creeping in in the last couple of games. We’ve not been as sharp as we could have been. I think we’ve conceded a few too many, including two today and four the other night - that’s obviously disappointing for us.

"Lapses in concentration have cost us and I contributed to that today. I defended poorly for Fulham's first goal. He got across me and it was a good header but I should have been tighter to him.

"A goal at Old Trafford gives them confidence. We scored again straightaway to make it 3-1 but they kept going at us. They’ve always played well here and it was no different today, they put us under a lot of pressure."

Coleman:

"We all make mistakes and I have had referees admit them before.

"But when you get something wrong that badly I am not sure I could accept it. It was just unbelievable, not even close.

"If I make a mistake I get criticised, so why shouldn't the officials.

"I said something to the assistant which probably wasn't very nice but it was such a poor decision. He was in a perfect position to see it and I just do not understand why he got it wrong.

"One of my players queried it and he just said 'I may have made a mistake'. Well, that was nice.

"I thought my guys were fantastic and dug their heels in and got a couple of goals back and were always in the game."
