Vidic:

"We started badly this season, but now we have three wins in a row and I think we're improving every time. I hope that in our next game we improve again. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

"I have had a couple of chances this season and haven't managed to score. This was probably the best moment to get my first goal of the season with less than ten minutes to go. We've won, so I'm happy.

"We played like a team. It's not just two players, everyone played well in defence and that helped us get the result. Yakubu is strong and Johnson is quick and likes the ball in the channels. But we knew about them and stopped them from getting chances.

"With our ability going forward we knew that we'd be able to score, and we did. We came for the win and got it. Sometimes you have to make sure you don't lose a goal.

"It's always difficult after the international break. We knew that it would be hard against Everton and that we'd need to play a compact game. We had to do that today."

Ferguson:

"Vidic is a marvellous centre-back. Johnson and Yakubu are a real handful and it is not going to be easy for anyone coming here so it's great for us to get the three points.

"Nemanja had the determination and courage to score in their penalty box at a great time for us and Rio showed real determination in his area to get a block in when we needed to see it through.

"It was a great result, there was some quality showing through. We all know we have not got our strongest side out at the moment due to injuries, but there is a good togetherness in the squad and it was a strong team effort. When we get our forward players back from injury we will be all right.

"The crowd got Scholes that yellow card, the referee's view was blocked but he heard the crowd and showed him a card. And on the Ronaldo incident, Carlos Queiroz (assistant manager) has watched the video, and it was outside the box but he was definitely caught by the Everton player.

"To get a yellow card for that was ridiculous. The referee thought he might have to give a penalty kick, so he booked Ronaldo instead, it was a bad decision."

On Silvestre:

"It's a knee injury. We'll send him for a scan and wait to see what comes of it."

David Moyes:

"I thought our boys did very well. It's disappointing to lose a goal from a corner at any stage, but especially in the last few minutes.

"We've got a big week coming up with a Uefa Cup tie, so I don't want us to feel too down after this.

"Our forwards caused them problems but their defenders played very well.
"We didn't deserve to lose all three points."
