Nemanja Matic has revealed he would like to extend his stay at Manchester United, but admitted that no talks have taken place between himself and the club.
The Serbian's current deal expires in the summer, and there has been talk about him both departing Old Trafford for pastures new and putting pen to paper on fresh terms.
Earlier this month Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ruled out Matic leaving this window, while equally claiming there was a 'chance' his time in the north west might be extended. Meanwhile, the player himself admitted he will weigh up his options moving forward, due to limited playing time under the Norwegian's tutelage.
However, having enjoyed an extended spell in the side over recent weeks, Matic has since had a chance of heart and admitted that he would like to remain at United beyond the summer, despite no talks having taking place yet.
“I’ve got a contract until the end of the season,” the 31-year-old midfielder said, via the Guardian.
Matic scored his first goal of the season in the Red Devils' 1-0 second leg win away at Manchester City on Wednesday - a match he also got sent off in - but it was not enough to overturn a first leg defeat in their Carabao Cup semi-final and they crashed out 3-2 on aggregate.
Missing out on Wembley was tough on Matic, but he insisted that there are other targets for United to reach for this season, particularly since they are 'very far' away in the league.
He added: “To be honest the reality now, with this team, is that it will be hard to win the league. We are very far from that, but we are there in the Europa League, along with some good teams such as Inter Milan and Ajax who came from the Champions League. So that will be hard too, but not impossible. We have a chance.”
