‘RUUD VAN NISTELROOY suffered an amazing Carling Cup final snub after a bust-up with boss Alex Ferguson.

The Dutch striker’s long-term future must be in doubt after he was axed following a blast from boss Fergie over his performance in the FA Cup defeat at Liverpool.

Van Nistelrooy, an unused sub, appeared to exchange words with Ferguson when Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic were both brought on with just eight minutes left.

The Dutchman was a subdued figure during United’s victory celebrations and was first to head for the dressing room.

Ferguson
said: “I explained to Ruud that Louis Saha deserved to play in the final because he had already scored five goals in the competition.

“I have explained to all three strikers that I prefer to play two of them with Wayne always the man playing off the other one.”
