You could bet your house on Sir Alex not being very pleased about the actions of another incompetent referee on Sunday, and you'd have won.
Martin Atkinson came in for a barrage from Sir after he handed Chelsea the points by first giving the home side a free kick that never was and then allowing a goal to stand that should by all rights have been disallowed.
Fletcher put in a clean tackle on Ashley Cole in the 76th minute, but Atkinson decided that it was a foul, even though the United player clearly won the ball fairly.
From the resulting free kick, either John Terry or Mardarse Anelka headed the ball home, and even though Drogba fouled Wes Brown as the kick was being taken, we won’t even go into the offside issue.
"Clearly, Darren Fletcher's won the ball, Ashley Cole was never touched and has jumped up in the air, and then Drogba's pulled Brown to the ground for the goal," said Sir after the game.
"The referee's position to make the decision was absolutely ridiculous, he can't see anything. He's got a Chelsea player (Joe Cole) standing right in front of him and he doesn't even move.
"That goal shouldn't have been allowed. It was a bad decision, but there's nothing we can do about it. You lose faith in refereeing sometimes, that's the way the players are talking in there. It was a bad one."
