‘OAPS AND A DECLINING FORCE'

Last updated : 24 October 2005 By editor

‘There once was a team (whose name I shall not utter here) that won everything during the 1980's and then when their stars, who had won so much, started to wane nostalgia took hold of the club and the aging, jaded players remained as the club slipped from the heights to which they had become accustomed.

Fast forward to the 90's, when another club that dominated proceedings, retained their aging stars and slipped from their pedestal, etc, etc... Yes folk's I'm talking about Manchester United (and Liverpool in the opening paragraph, for those who didn't guess).

Where once there was the most feared midfield in Europe their is now a bunch of OAPs. Keane's hip (and age) means he is no longer the force he was. United should off load him to Ireland Celtic ASAP - before his performances as a veteran blur those of the marauding captain that lead the club to glory. Retire at the top!

Scholes is just a waste of space at the moment. He just looks uninterested this season. He has lacked creativity and as a result the attack looks stale.’
